It’s not about political agendas or liberal ideas, it’s about the children. 30,000 of them die every day in our world and there is something terribly wrong with that.

Our nations leaders owe it to us as a human race to discuss global poverty and what we are doing to stop these preventable deaths.

Leave My Child Alone

It turns out that the No Child Left Behind Act has a little clause in it that makes it mandatory for schools to turn over student information to military recruiters!

Leave My Child Alone is a grassroots movement of Teachers, Parents and others who want to raise awareness in our communities about this clause and help people express their right to Opt-Out of having their information shared.

Wheaton students who are education majors might want to take a particular interest in this issue. Our schools should be an enviroment for students to learn and grow, not to be wooed by the military. I’d encourage anyone at Wheaton who has a strong interest in this issue to host a meeting.

How our biases shape our facts.

Bloggers have brought a new ‘checks and balance’ element to the news as well as many other things. The large amount of bloggers posting about Hurricane Katrina is creating an interesting new turn in the way we get our information.

Without getting into much discussion about the issues that this article brings up, I’ll just leave you with the simple facts. Two different pictures of individuals doing very similar things, and yet described quite differently.
