Free speech? or violent?

Filed under: News — Ariah Fine @ 8:49 am

Tariq Khan, a George Mason University student, was arrested on his own campus for handing out Anti-Recruitment fliers. An Air Force Veteran himself, he put together his own fliers to hand out to fellow students near a military recruiter’s table.
He was arrested (and physically pushed around) by an officer who said to him, “You people are the most violent people in the world. There’s no telling what you’ll do.” Now the question is: Was the officer referring to Anti-recruiter’s or other’s that look like Tariq when he said, “You people?”

  1. This is not an excuse for the military, but if any group were prone to be sensitive to attacks from those of Middle Eastern Origin, it would be the American Armed Forces. No doubt this is racist and abominable, but maybe it makes sense. Who are the men and women of the Armed Forces taught to fight against, anyhow? How do you tell a terrorist from a regular citizen? This is the same thing we found out when soldiers came home from WWII and Vietnam; the face of the ethnic group out of which the enemy comes is indistinguishable from the enemy itself. And so it goes…
